Elementary: Faculty & Staff: Barksdale, 3rd Grade

Feb. 8 Newsletter

by Holly Barksdale

Mrs. Barksdale’s Newsletter
Week of Feb. 8-12

Important School Information
• Science test Monday
• S.S. test Wednesday
• Students will be given some time to start Young Authors books in the classroom next week.  For those that have already started at home, please send them in so that students may use this time to work on them.  Much of the work will need to be completed at home, however.  They are due March 8th.
• We will be starting Rocket Math multiplication next week.  All students are expected to know all multiplication facts before moving to fourth grade.  While this seems a long way off, learning every fact is a big job.  Start now by practicing flashcards at home nightly!
• Book It! reading for this month-24 days/20 min.
• We’re starting a new reading incentive program called “Fired Up for Reading”.  More information is included on a separate page in today’s mail.
• Our Valentine’s Day party will be this Friday from 2-3.  Please send in something to collect Valentine’s in (anything from a decorated box to a shopping bag is fine).  We will not be decorating boxes at school.  A class list is included on the back of this newsletter for making Valentine’s.  Please be sure to send one for every child.
• We are again running low on supplies.  We need Kleenex and paper towels.  Remember that some of our Kleenex’s go to art, music, or other special teachers who do not have a supply at the beginning of the year!  Thanks.
• ISAT’s are 3 weeks away.  We’ll be incorporating some ISAT practice into our normal curriculum, as well as working through some of the sample questions provided by the state in math and reading.
• Yearbook order forms are due Friday, Feb. 12

This Coming Week
