by Matt Gordon
Delavan CUSD #703 Registration
Attention Parent(s), Guardian(s) and Students,
We hope everyone is having a fun and relaxing summer! It is very exciting to know that the new school year will be starting very soon! Registration for the 2010-2011 school year will be Thursday August 5 from 1-4pm and 6-8pm and Friday August 6 from 9am-12pm. All families will be receiving a packet in the mail with important papers that will need to be filled out and brought back to school on or before registration. Everyone receives a new emergency card each year to fill out in case of any changes that need to be made in our computer system.
FYI~ The information that we need you to fill out is very important to our staff because it is used to complete the necessary district reports. Please feel free to bring in your information before registration to assist us with this process.
Important Points
• Required physical exams below must be new this summer
• Early Childhood: need a physical exam
• Kindergarten: need a physical exam, eye exam, dental exam, up-to-date immunization, copy of the original or certified copy of the students birth certificate (hospital certificates will not be accepted)
• 2nd Grade: need a dental exam
• 6th Grade: need a dental exam and physical exam
• Freshmen: need a school physical as well as a Tetanus booster if they haven’t had one in the last 10 years.
• Please make those appointments right away as the state has a deadline for immunization compliance.
• Any student participating in any sport must have a physical to participate in tryouts or practices. No exceptions!
• High school students who drive to school will need a parking card on file in the high school office. We will issue parking spots for those students a few days after school starts.
• High school and junior high P.E. uniforms can be purchased at registration
• Incoming 7th grade, incoming freshmen and new student Orientation Night will be Tuesday, August 17 at 6:00p.m. in the Poppenga Gymnasium.
This orientation night is for parent(s)/guardian(s) of 7th graders, 9th graders and any new students to the junior / sr. high school. Also, we hope to see all 7th graders, 9th graders and new students at the orientation night as well.
The agenda for the night is a welcome, introductions, a shortened practice school schedule (students and parents/guardians can meet their teachers) and junior high student lock and locker practice!
• The first day of school is August 18 from 8:15 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
• August 18-Sept 3 are 2:15 dismissals due to heat. Following Labor Day Weekend, (starting Sept. 7) the heat schedule is determined the night before at the time of the weather forecast. If the forecast predicts 90 degrees or above for the next day, the heat schedule will be in place and students will be dismissed at 2:15 the next day. The Channel 19 forecast will be used to determine dismissal tine for the next day. The district’s Alert Now messaging system will be used in conjunction with the news as the notification system for a subsequent heat day.
